The tape-dispensing machine has two parts hinging together and enclosing a roll of tape, the axis of the latter being parallel to that of the hinge. There is an opening in the wall of one part, while the other has a pressure member, and they incorporate stops, cutters and springs. In the rest position, the free tape end and the pressure member are retracted into the interior, being pulled out through the opening against spring action into the dispensing position. On returning to the rest position, a cutter moves across the opening to part the tape off. A guard (27) extends over the cutter (38) in the rest position, preventing contact with it.
