The viewfinding system for optical observation appts., esp. a camera, has a reflex mirror system which projects the image from the taking lens onto the adjusting lens. A viewing system includes a field condensing lens for observation of the focus and field of view adjusting lens. Various kinds of the latter (2) are provided or acceptable. A specified field condensing lens (3) is assigned to each type of adjusting lens. The latter can be a matt disc and/or a plate of optical fibres. In a cine camera, a rotating mirror shutter (10) deflects the beam from the taking lens to the film plane (11) or periodically to the viewfinder beam path.
