METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To produce the optical recording medium of a low cost with excellent mass productivity by continuously executing the transfer of preformats on a resin sheet and the formation of a recording layer contg. org. dyes by coating on the preformat forming surface. CONSTITUTION:A resin which is the material for a substrate is melted and is extruded 12 by a melt extruder 1 to form the resin sheet 2 which is the substrate for the optical recording medium. This sheet 2 is then sandwiched by compression by a roll-shaped stamper 4 and a specular roll 3 to transfer the preformats onto one surface of the resin sheet and the specular surface on the other surface as well as to uniformize the thickness of the resin sheet. The material 8 for the recording layer is then applied on the surface formed with the preformats by a gravure roll 6 and an extruding roll 7, by which the recording layer 9 is formed.
