PURPOSE: To form a useful structure from thermoplastic filaments by a winding technique by providing a mandrel having a rotary shaft and the molding surface surrounding the rotary shaft. CONSTITUTION: Filaments 60 incorporating a desired plastic material are cast to be wound around the surface of the rotary mandrel 12 provided under the heated compression roller 32 pressed to the rotary surface of a mandrel 12. The compression roller 32 moves slowly along the rotary mandrel 12 vertically in directly parallel to the axis of the mandrel 12. The filaments 60 are heated while passed through the gap between the rotary surface of the mandrel 12 and the compression roller 32 to be softened and spirally wound around the outer surface of the mandrel 12 in order to form a hollow member. Thereafter, the hollow member is cooled to be removed from the mandrel 12. |
