PURPOSE:To facilitate the production of a foamed article of a satd. hydrocarbon polymer by condensing a curable compsn. comprising a satd. hydrocarbon polymer having a reactive, silicon group, a hydrated metal salt, and a silanol condensation catalyst, and utilizing a gas generated in the condensation as a blowing agent. CONSTITUTION:A curable compsn. comprising a satd. hydrocarbon polymer having hydroxyl or hydrolyzable groups directly attached to the silicon atoms and at least one silicon group capable of crosslinking by forming a siloxane bond [e.g. a hydrogenated polyisoprene of the formula, having a mol.wt. of about 2800, a viscosity of about 520P (20 deg.C), and silyl groups at its molecular terminals], a hydrated metal salt (e.g. Na2SO4.10H2O), and a silanol condensation catalyst (e.g. stannous octoate) is condensed, and a gas generated in the condensation is utilized as a blowing agent. Thus, a foamed article of the satd. hydrocarbon polymer is easily produced. |
