The present invention is a device for locking and unlocking a means of opening an emergency exit, as it is described in Patent No. 89 10028. It is characterised in that the lower part of the casing (3) contains an electromagnet (22) whose rod (23) is in contact with a knuckle joint (24) consisting of a lower connecting rod (40) and an upper connecting rod (41) which are articulated, the lower connecting rod (40) being capable of pivoting about a fixed pin (47) and the upper connecting rod (41) having an oblong hole (49) in which a transverse pin (50) fixed to the locking cylinder (25) can slide, the knuckle joint (24) being capable of adopting two positions, the first in which the force exerted by a return spring (29') on the locking cylinder (25) is transmitted by the knuckle joint (24) to the fixed pin (47), which prevents the cylinder (25) from descending into its unlocking position, and the second position allowing the movement of the cylinder (25) into its unlocking position, obtained by releasing the action of the electromagnet (22). <IMAGE>
