PURPOSE:To obtain an Al2O3-ZrO2 combined sintered body having high strength and toughness by dispersing a specified amt. of fine zirconia powder in alumina hydrate, adding prescribed amts. of a binder and a plasticizer, molding, drying and sintering a prepd. slurry. CONSTITUTION:Fine zirconia powder is added and dispersed in alumina hydrate in 5/95-20/80 weight ratio of Al2O3/ZrO2. A binder such as methylcellulose is added by 2-6 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the resulting dispersion liq. and a plasticizer such as dibutyl phthalate is further added by 1-6 pts.wt. to prepare a slurry. This slurry is molded into a sheet shape and dried to produce a green sheet and an alumina-zirconia combined sintered body is obtd. by sintering the green sheet. The sintered body has high toughness and is suitable for use as a lightweight structural material, etc., having heat and corrosion resistances. |
