PURPOSE: To propose processing for repairing faults to an operator by intermittently testing various function units in a multiplex communication system, identifying a fault unit and specifying the faulty part of the multiplex communication system by the use of an expert system. CONSTITUTION: In order to cope with a state generated when the critical quantity of a resource is failed, two sorts of items are defined in a hardware error table. When the resource exceeds a threshold, one of these items is recorded in the table. A fault resource manager(FRM) waits for the report of a threshold alarm task to know whether or not the disuse of a channel is possible. The number of disused channels is judged by checking a fault resource table(FRT). Information to be displayed is expressed by a natural language which is readily interpreted by an operator. |
