PURPOSE:To eliminate residue of ink by imparting a water repellency to an abutting surface of a cap member, a wall surface of an inner part adjactent thereto, an abutting part of an ink delivery surface of a recording head, and a part thereof limited by said abutting surface. CONSTITUTION:An inner part 5A of a cap member 5 is filled with an ink 12 immediately after a suction recovery action. A water repellent X is applied to an ink delivery surface 1A of a recording head 1, an abutting surface 5B of the cap member 5, and an inner wall surface 5C. Therefore, the water repellent effect and the surface tension of the ink allow spaces 20, to which the ink 12 cannot creep, to be formed on four corners of the inner part 5A. Then, when the cap member 5 is retracted in the direction of an arrow C after a suction recovery action, the ink existing on the ink delivery surface 1A in contact states is absorbed into an ink absorber 11. In this manner, the residue of the ink is inhibited. |
