The current generation uses a photoelement receiving the light from the flame directly or via an outer light shield and a focussing mirror or lens. Pref. the flame is obtained by burning gas, with the open flame enclosed by a glass light shield which has a parabolic reflector and a photoelement on 2 opposite sides. USE - For providing current independent of mains supply.
