The machine has a stator lamination block (1) provided with a series of axially spaced carrier rings (15...20), joined together by a number of axial beams (28) supported within the machine housing (2) via axially spaced straps (29) extending perpendicular to the machine longitudinal axis. The straps are secured to the beams via screws at one end and are attached to the housing, via suspension fixings provided by covers clamped against the outside of the housing, after fitting through respective openings in the latter. Pref. the central section of each cover (33) has a slit with the same cross-section at the strap through which the end of the latter is fitted. ADVANTAGE - Allows simple removal of stator. Does not require complicated spring and/or support elements.
