Safety and emergency device for roller shutter door, of the type comprising a frame formed by two vertical uprights (2, 3) joined at their upper parts by a horizontal crosspiece (1) which is supported by the said uprights and in which is arranged a roller shaft (4) in order to receive the said shutter or straps for hoisting the shutter, the said shaft being controlled in rotation by an electric motor (5), advantageously of the brake type, characterised in that the roller shaft is connected to a crank (11) by way of an electrically controlled clutch mechanism (13), in such a way that, in the event of a current interruption, the connection is established between the roller shaft (4) and the crank (11), while the brake of the motor is released, and, in the presence of current, the crank is disengaged from the roller shaft. <IMAGE>
