The invention relates to a process for the enantioselective preparation of 2-aminotetralins of formula (I) <IMAGE> in which R represents hydrogen or a lower alkyl group and the asterisk denotes that the carbon atom thus labelled has a specific absolute configuration, and of their acid addition salts, starting from a phenol ether of formula <IMAGE> in which R DEG is a lower alkyl group and from the anhydride of optically active N-(trifluoroacetyl)aspartic acid of formula <IMAGE> via novel intermediates of formula <IMAGE> in which R DEG and the asterisk have the meaning given above and X represents an oxygen atom or two hydrogen atoms.
