A wheel device is pivotably mounted on a bottom surface 3 of a piece of furniture 4 or the like and has two tilted wheels 2 which at their periphery are in roller contact with a floor 5. The wheels 2 are rotatably mounted on a holder 9, which in turn is pivotably and eccentrically mounted about the mounting axis 10 of the device. The fact that the rotational axis 14 of the respective wheel 2 forms an angle v with the mounting axis 10 produces a very good load-withstanding ability. The wheel device 1 can therefore be pivoted in its entirety about the mounting axis 10 whilst the wheels 2 roll against the floor 5 as they rotate about their rotational axes 14. Owing to this specific arrangement, the wheel device 1 acquires a very low structural height h compared with previously known wheel constructions of similar type. With an angle v of 30 DEGREE and a wheel radius R of 10 mm, the structural height h is only ca. 16 mm. <IMAGE> |
