<p>PURPOSE:To prevent extreme increase in a code quantity with refresh by expressing a refresh line number or a refresh picture element number with less additional information, multiplexing the information onto a picture signal and sending the result. CONSTITUTION:A coder consists of a refresh control circuit 1, a subtractor 2, a quantizer 3, an adder 4, an in-frame prediction device 5, an inter-frame prediction device 6, a switch 7 and a variable length coder 8. In the case of applying periodic refresh, n-line each or n-picture element each of refreshment is implemented and the refresh line number or the picture element number is multiplexed onto a coding signal and the result is sent. Thus, huge increase in the code quantity due to refresh is prevented.</p> |
