PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic material having superior wear resistance and producing hardly a strain during recording and noise such as sliding noise by adding an element to an Fe-Si alloy obtd. by a high-speed cooling method and by specifying the grain size of the alloy by a specified heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:This material is made of alloy contg. 4-8wt% Si and 0.01- 2wt% in total of >=1 kind of element selected from the IIA, IVB, VB, VIB, VIIB, VIII,IB, IIB, IIIA, IVA, and VA groups in Fe and having <=0.2mm. average grain size. Molten metal having said composition is formed into a sheet having 0.02- 0.3mm. thickness by cooling at >=10<3> deg.C/sec cooling rate, and the sheet is heat treated at 600-1,200 deg.C for 0.01-20hr in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to obtain said material. |
