PURPOSE:To prevent mounted photosensitive bodies having different characteristics from malfunctioning and generating imaging failure and to produce photosensitive bodies having various characteristics in a common size to any image forming device by providing a means which detects spectral characteristics of a photosensitive body and actuating an image forming device only when a detecting signal corresponds to a set logical value concerning the characteristics of the photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with functions 18 and 34 which identify the type of the photosensitive body 6, and which incorporates a reference signal Vref concerning the characteristics of the normal photosensitive body 6. The device detects the physical property of the mounted photosensitive body 6, and only when the detected value is judged to be the same as the reference signal Vref, image forming is performed. Whereas the reference signal Vref is different from the detected value of the physical property of the mounted photosensitive body 6, the device do not operate. Thereby, malfunction is prevented and the photosensitive body 6 can be identified even if the size is identical so that the photosensitive bodies having various characteristics are produced in a common size to reduce costs. |
