An electrical connector 10 includes a casing 12 containing cavities 16 having terminals 32 carrying conductors retained in them by means of barbs 18 with a locking element 50 which can be operated to direct the terminals axially into the casing by means of the rotation of a locking element 50. In a preferred embodiment, a cover 62 is engaged by sliding with the casing 12 and is shaped internally to fit on the said casing only when the locking element is in an appropriate position to ensure an appropriate position of the terminal.
