The easily transportable drilling rig has a higher output than conventional machines of this class which weigh 200-500 kgs. This rig weighs two thirds less. Production figures are quoted for 300 holes of 10mm to 200 mm. Dia. in a work day (8 hours) compared to 120 to 150 in the same time using existing machines. The drilling machine for production of holes in construction elements particularly horizontal voided concrete ceilings or soffits of slabs for vertical holes has a diamond tipped cylindrical core drilling bit (18) attached to a rotating shaft spindles (24, 25) of a drill carried on the supporting chassis (1). The drill bit (18) is pressed against the concrete surface by the control rod mechanism (3) and is powered by a motor in the housing (4) which is located on the wheeled lower chassis (5). The supporting chassis (1) is telescopic the drill bit (18) is located inside a drilling chamber (12) into which water is sprayed from supply pipes (13) which serve to cool and lubricate the drill bit surfaces. A flexible sealing gasket (22) is at the top of the drilling chamber and this assists in keeping the equipment below clear of water.
