The plug-and-socket connector for coupling an optical lightguide to a focussed light source, i.e. a laser light-source, has an adapter piece fixed on the end of the light-guide and a location housing adjustable relative to the focus region and including an insertion orifice for the adapter piece and a releasable lock axially positioning the adapter piece and containing a locking element gripping into a corresp. indentation. Also included is a switch with pilot-light responding to the inserted position of the adapter piece, and a pressure piece pressing the adapter piece in the locking position and active in the ejection position. The lock (26) contains a locking element designed as a locking pawl or latch (44) which can swivel around an axle (46) fixed on the housing and is arranged on mounting (48) pierced by a boring (28) used for accommodating the adapter piece with a sliding fit.
