摘要 <p>Biologically activated back-flushing de-nitrification filter, for an-oxygenic operation, is downstream of the biologically intensified filtration stage in a biological adsorption waste water treatment plant. The sludge handling system incorporates a heated prepn. device for part (approx. 20%) of the sludge flowing from the adsorption tank, and the treated sludge is supplied as an organic material feed into the de-nitrification filter via a sieving stage and a pipe system. The denitrification filter opt. contains an activated carbon filtration material, and the heated sludge prepn. device may incorporate an autoclave. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in the design of biological water treatment plants which operate by means of an adsorption process. The proposed system reduces the space and ground area, which is normally considerable, occupied by the plant in an economical manner, and to a large extent eliminates the micro-impurities of the prod. water - i.e. the organic and partly poisonous substances which normally exist in small concns. in the water leaving treatment plants of this type.</p>
