A lubricant circuit and a process for circulating a lubricant through such lubricant circuit of a compressor unit (50) incorporating a compressor comprising a cylinder-piston (100) and piston (130). One embodiment of a process of this invention relies on pressure in a lubricant separator vessel (10) to force the flow of lubricant through the circuit (20, 27, 31) to the compressor, and uses a lubricant pump (158) as a scavenge pump. Another embodiment of a circuit and another embodiment of a process of this invention relies on the pressure developed by the lubricant pump (158) to force the flow of lubricant through the circuit (42, 27, 31) to the compressor, and utilizes a float (21) operated valve (22) to maintain constant lubricant level in the lubricant separator vessel. Both embodiments of the circuit may include an additional, independent circuit (25) connecting the bottom of a sump (12) of the lubricant separator vessel with a bearing manifold (36) downstream from the manifold's orifice (37) to provide for an additional flow of lubricant to the bearings of the compressor during start-up of the compressor unit. |
