NEW MATERIAL:A compound of the formula showing the following physicochemical properties. Molecular weight: 464; Molecular formula: C25H20O9; Mass spectrometric analysis: negative FAB-MSm/z 463 [M-H]-; Specific rotatory power: [alpha]D =+348 deg. (C=0.5, methanol); solubility: soluble in pyridine and methanol and sparingly soluble in water and n-hexane; Color reaction: dark blue coloring by FeCl3 reagent, Color: yellow acidic substance, etc. USE:An anti-cancer agent. PREPARATION:A semi-dried rhizome of a plant belonging to Davallia genus, especially Davallia meriesii Moor is subjected to extraction using an organic solvent such as ethanol or acetone or a mixture solution of an organic solvent and water. From the resultant extract, the objective new substance is isolated using a purification method consisting of a combination of filtration, condensation, extraction, washing, drying, recrystallization and various chromatography. |
