摘要 PURPOSE:To minimize the capacity of a driving motor when the hydrogen-cooled generator equipment of an idle thermal power plant is operated as a synchronous phase modifying equipment by reducing the hydrogen gas pressure in a hydrogen-cooled generator from a rated hydrogen gas pressure down to a hydrogen gas pressure set in advance. CONSTITUTION:When a hydrogen-cooled generator 1 is operated as a synchronous phase modifying machine, an automatic gas pressure regulating valve 8 is regulated so that a hydrogen gas pressure takes a value set in advance and extremely near an atmospheric pressure value, hydrogen gas in the hydrogen-cooled generator 1 is fed into a hydrogen gas tank 7 and the hydrogen gas pressure in the hydrogen-cooled generator 1 is reduced in advance. Then, after a driving motor 2 is started to increase its number of revolutions to the neighborhood of the rated number of revolutions and is incorporated in a system, the driving motor 2 is disconnected from the hydrogen-cooled generator 1 by a clutch 3 or the like. The disconnected hydrogen-cooled generator 1 is operated as the synchronous phase modifying machine.
