The invention concerns a process and device for towing an aircraft on a taxiway, the aircraft being lifted in the region of its nose wheel or wheels and subsequently pushed or pulled with the nose wheel lifted. The invention calls for the aircraft to be driven under its own power to bring its nose wheel (14) on to a carrying harness (16) with a support surface for the nose wheel (14), the support surface being laid on the taxiway (72) separate from the towing vehicle (10). The carrying harness (16) is then hitched to or gripped by the towing vehicle (10) and lifted, together with the nose wheel (14) supported by it. To lift the carrying harness (16), which is designed so that it can be laid on the taxiway (72) separate from the towing vehicle (10) so that the nose wheel (14) can be driven on to it, the carrying harness (16) can be detachably connected to a lifting device (12) on the towing vehicle (10). |
