发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL ELECTROOPTICAL ELEMENT
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a good contrast by providing a selective reflecting member having a reflecting surface of a plane shape on the opposite side with the reflecting member and liquid crystal cell in-between and orienting the major axis of the liquid crystal molecules near the substrate of the liquid crystal cell with 30 to 65 deg. angle with the substrate when an electric field is not impressed. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal cell is constituted of the substrate 2 having transparent electrodes 3 and an oriented film 4 and the liquid crystal molecules 7 crimped by the reflecting member 8 having a reflecting function and the substrate 2 having oriented film 4 via a sealing part 5. The element is further constituted of the selective reflecting member 9 installed in the form of facing the reflecting member 8 having the reflecting function of this liquid crystal cell. The pretilt angle 6 of the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal cell is inclined by 30 to 60 deg. when the electric field is not impressed. The liquid crystal electrooptical element having the high contrast is obtd. in this way even if the number of circuit elements increases.
