The toothbrush consists of an outer housing (12) round an inside housing (14) for the electromotor (22) whose drive shaft (18) powers the brush movement and can be pressed sealably onto the outer housing. A separate arrester bushing (66) fixed in the housing (12) fixes the seal (54) onto the housing, the leading end of the inner housing (14) being space from the bushing (66) and pref, supported on this by struts which bear against the ring wall of the housing enclosing the bushing. ADVANTAGE - Sealed drive shaft keeps moisture out for extended service life.
