A temp probe (6) in the electrical circuit (4) of a beam heating device comprises a beam passing tube (8) with a low temp coefficient. A futher metallic extension limb (10) having a high temp coefficient is disposed in the tube (8) extending parallel to an extension rod (14) with a higher temp coefficient one side of the extension limb (10) abuts against the beam tube (8). A further beam passing tube (12) with a small temp coefficient is sandwiched between the other side of the limb (10) and the side of the rod (14) remote from the switch (4). USE/ADVANTAGE: Has greater overall length as temp probe despite shorter length of switch stroke.
