PURPOSE:To obtain homogeneous cylindrical scagliola free from a joint over the entire periphery and having uniform strength by centrifugally molding a slurried molding material contg. acrylic sirup, a curing agent and a filler. CONSTITUTION:60-25wt.% acrylic sirup contg. 35-55wt.% methyl methacrylate prepolymer having 20,000-70,000 mol.wt. and 65-45wt.% methyl methacrylate monomer is mixed with 40-75wt.% filler of 0.5-500mum grain size such as CaCO3 and a curing agent composed of 0.05-1.0wt.% polymn. initiator such as benzoyl peroxide based on the amt. of the sirup and 0.05-1.0wt.% initiation accelerator such as ferrocene to obtain a slurried molding material 2 having 500-5,000 cps viscosity. This molding material 2 is fed into a metal pipe 1, which is turned at 5-30r.p.m. The material 2 is centrifugally molded at room temp. to 40 deg.C in 1-5hr and cured. The resulting cylindrical molded body 3A is released from the pipe 1 and cylindrical scagliola 3 is obtd. |
