An apparatus for preventing the escape of gases when charging a coal cake 15 into horizontal coking chambers, produced in a ramming mould of a ramming, charging and pusher machine 1 outside the coking chamber 20 and standing on the travelling ramming bottom 14 of the ramming mould. A tunnel 3 surrounds the entering coal cake 15 and fits with the front end, on the oven side, of the door frame 2 of the coking chamber 20. The side walls 10 of the tunnel 3 can be moved into the side walls of the ramming mould, and are designed as hollow walls on the oven side. The tunnel bottom is formed by the travelling ramming bottom 14 and the tunnel cover 9 is of the telescoping type and has guides for the sliding side walls 10 in which case a levelling device 8, smoothening the surface of the coal cake 15, with a disposal device for the scraped off coal, is arranged on the stationary part of the tunnel cover 9. |
