摘要 A preserving and fireproofing composition for wood is in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion in which the water phase comprises 5-40% of inorganic borate and 0.5-2% of lignosulphonate emulsifier and the oil phase comprises 0.1-10% of a halo or nitro phenol and 0.2-25% of hydrocarbon wax dissolved in petroleum oil distillate, the ratio of oil phase to aqueous phase is 1-2.5 to 1, and the average diameter of the oil droplets is not greater than 7 microns. The borate may be ammonium biborate; sodium or calcium metaborate; sodium tetraborate; ammonium, sodium, or lithium pentaborate; or metaboric acid. The lignosulphonate emulsifier may be the ammonium, sodium, potassium, or calcium salt. The halophenol may be 2, 4, 6-tri-, 2, 4, 5, 6-tetra-, or penta-chlorophenol. The hydrocarbon wax may be paraffin or microcrystalline wax or petrolatum or a chlorinated derivative. The petroleum oil distillate may be mineral spirit, diesel oil, kerosene, gas, oil, toluene, ligroin, benzene, or gasoline. The composition may also comprise a chromate or arsenate.
