PURPOSE:To obtain the optical logic gate which has no polarization dependence and is stable to the disturbance of the outside world, such as temp. by providing a filter for separating signal light at the exit end of the single mode optical fiber in an optical system which can multiplex the signal light to the optical fiber simultaneously with pumping light. CONSTITUTION:This optical logic gate is constituted by using the ordinary single mode optical fiber which is of an optical fiber type and has no polarization maintaining function. Namely, the gate has the single mode optical fiber 3 which has extraordinary dispersion at the wavelength of the pumping light and the nonlinear effect occurring in cubic nonlinear polarization and a laser light source 1 which generates the impulsive pumping light. The gate has the optical system 4 which can multiplex the signal light to the single mode optical fiber 3 simultaneously with pumping and the filter 5 which separates the same at the exit end of the single mode optical fiber 3. While the logical operation is heretofore executed by using change in the polarization state of light, the parametric amplification in the fiber is utilized in this embodiment. The simultaneous execution of the amplification of the signal light is possible in this way and the excellent high-speed optical logic gate having no polarization dependence is constituted. |
