1,107,648. Dry battery. MINDEX BATTERY WORKS Ltd. 17 Nov., 1966 [1 Nov., 1965], No. 46232/65. Heading H1B. The invention comprises an electric battery consisting of a stack of flat dry cells having a pole plate at either end and a moulded plastic terminal plate carrying metal terminals electrically connected to the pole plates. In a particular enbodiment each flat cell comprises a black electrolyte cake 24 contained in a paste paper container 25, zinc electrode 26 and carbon electrode 27 all contained in plastics container 28. A 9V battery comprises a stack of such cells together with pole plates 14 and 15 held together by band 13. This assembly is covered with paraffin wax and encased in P.V.C. (16). Copper terminals 19 and 21 on plate 18 are then connected to pole plates 14 and 15 and the terminal insulated from pole plate 14 by cardboard (not shown). The whole is then inserted into case 22 and the terminal plate sealed to it either by application of heat optionally with pressure, a solvent, ultrasonic radiation or by chemical bonding. |
