PURPOSE:To miniaturize an instrument, to reduce the weight of the instrument and to facilitate the handling thereof by using a NOx concn. detector and com puting a NOx exhausting quantity. CONSTITUTION:The concn. of the NOx in exhaust gases is detected by an NOx concn. detecting means 20 consisting of an NOx sensor 17, an NOx concn. detector 18 and an NOx sensor controller 19. A control unit 22 has the function as a means for computing the quantity of gases and is mainly constituted of a microcomputer. This unit computes the processing value for controlling the combustion state of an engine 1 and the processing value necessary for comput ing the quantity of the exhaust gases exhausted within the prescribed time and outputs various kinds of control signals. In addition, the unit outputs the computed value of the quantity of the exhaust gases to an NOx exhausting quantity computing device 213. The device 23 is constituted similarly and mainly of a microcomputer and computes the NOx exhausting quantity in accordance with an output from the unit 22 and the device 18. The means 20 is miniaturized and reduced in weight according to this constitution and the arithmetic processing can be executed by the microcomputer. The size and weight are, therefore, small and the cost is low, in addition, the handling is easy, as well. |
