PURPOSE:To eliminate the unnaturalness caused at the time of zero steering angle by providing a steering speed detecting means, a means for comparing steering speed with a steering speed limit value in which the read of optical pulse is impossible, and an auxiliary steering angle reducing means for gradually reducing the calculated auxiliary steering angle when the steering speed exceeds the limit value. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary steering device reads the steering angle of a steering wheel as an optical pulse number from a neutral position, and conducts auxiliary steering of at least either of front wheel and rear wheel by the steering angle calculated from the read pulse number at the time of front wheel steering to improve the driving performance of a vehicle. During this, a comparative means compares the steering speed with a steering speed limit value in which the read of optical pulse is impossible, and when the steering speed is above the limit value, an auxiliary steering reducing means gradually reduces the calculated auxiliary steering angle, and after then, auxiliary steering is stopped to gradually return to the state of zero auxiliary steering angle. Therefore, such an unnaturalness that auxiliary steering is conducted in spite of zero steering wheel steering angle is eliminated. |
