PURPOSE:To remove image distortion or blur due to the repeat of copy expansion by determing an expansion factor for expanding font data read out of a font memory based upon size data detected by a size detecting means and using the font data expanded by the expansion factor as point lighting control data. CONSTITUTION:An inter-image eraser 5 is an LED array obtained by aligning 84 LED elements with 5mm pitches to execute inter-image and side erasing in a copying mode and write a character pattern based upon font data in a printing mode. The expansion factor for expanding font data read out from the font memory 401 is determined based upon size data detected by the size detecting means for copying paper. A font pattern is developed on an area corresponding to the paper size in a bit map memory 402 by using the font data expanded by the expansion factor as point lighting control data. Consequently, large characters approximate to paper size can be printed out. |
