PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a sheet like oil absorbing agent having sufficient oil absorbing property and excellent in processability, strength and readily usable property by blending kapok fiber with a bast fiber and heat meltable fiber at a specific ratio, forming the blend into a sheet and heating and cooling the sheet. CONSTITUTION:50-80wt.% kapok fiber is blended with 10-40wt.% bast fiber (e.g. hemp fiber) and 10-40wt.% heat meltable fiber (preferably polyester based fiber) and the blend is formed into a sheet and preferably needle punch is applied to the sheet to provide the sheet shaped oil absorbing agent consisting of kapok fiber and bast fiber bonded and fixed by heat meltable fiber floating on water or suspending in water. |
