PRODUCTION OF CATALYST FOR SYNTHESIS OF METHANOL

PURPOSE:To form a catalyst for synthesis of methanol from H2 and CO2 by dropping an aq. soln. contg. Al and Zn and/or Cr into an aq. precipitant soln. having a prescribed concn. under stirring and by dropping an aq. soln. contg. Cu. CONSTITUTION:An aq. precipitant soln. is held at a prescribed temp. and an aq. soln. contg. Al and Zn and/or Cr is dropped into the precipitant soln. under stirring to form a precipitate. An aq. soln. contg. Cu is then dropped to further form a precipitate on the formed precipitate. These precipitates are washed and calcined to obtain a catalyst for synthesis of methanol contg. at least Cu, Zn and Al and/or Cr as metal components. In this catalyst, the pref. atomic ratio of Zn to Cu is (10-250)/100 and that of Al and/or Cr to Cu is (1-100)/100.
