PURPOSE:To prevent the abrasion of a shaft by forming a mechanical seal face and a dust seal face respectively of the front and rear sides of the sliding seal faces of a fixed seal ring fitted with play at the shaft fitted into the axial hole of a housing through a buffer packing. CONSTITUTION:An axial hole 2 is provided at a fitting housing 1 made of metal to fit a fixed seal ring 5 fitted at a shaft 7 with play through a buffer packing 3. The buffer packing 3 has a stepped-ring-formed metal plate 3 as a core and is molded of an elastic coated layer 3b. The fixed seal ring 5 is made of silicone carbide and the like, and a rotary seal ring 8a fixed rigidly at the shaft 7 is brought into contact with a sliding seal face 5a on the front side so as to form mechanical seal, as well as a lip-type packing 8b fitted at the shaft 7 is brought into contact with a sliding seal face 5b on the rear side so as to form dust seal. At the time of rotation, the packing 8b is pressured to the seal face 5b by water pressure. The abrasion of the shaft is thereby prevented, and dust seal function is improved. |
