In order to construct a frame for a mattress comprising an adjustable tilting leg rest which the user can adjust into various comfortable positions at will, the recommended solution consists in that this leg rest (4) comprises two parts (7, 8) able to pivot relative to each other, in that a pivoting lever (6) bears against the underside of one of the two parts (7, 8), in that a second pivoting lever (12) bears against the underside of the part (8) forming the extremity of the leg rest (4), in that the two levers (6, 12) are connected by a connecting bar (13), in that in a first position of use the two parts (7, 8) are raised in the same direction and in the extension of each other in order to assume a tilt relative to the fundamental position, in that in a second position of use that part (7) which is nearest the central part (2) of the frame is lifted higher and in that the second part (8) is swung in the opposite direction, and in that in a third position of use that part (7) which is nearest the central part (2) of the frame is tilted still further and in that the free end of the second part (8) comes close to the frame (1). <IMAGE>
