A hull has two downwardly facing surfaces 6, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), inclined towards the centre line, and connected by an adjoining surface 12 which extends substantially the whole length of the hull and rises above the water line at the bows, the sides 4 of the hull being substantially parallel and upright below the water line, and forming sponsons to above the water line. The surfaces 4, 6 and 12 may be plane or curved. The hull can be fitted with retractable road wheels, and can be driven by a propeller, water-jet, or an air jet. The boundary layer may be bled off. The hull is so shaped as to provide a vehicle for movement over snow and soft mud. |
