In a process for drying loose, particulate materials, dry warm air from a blower moves in a closed circuit through the loose damp material. The moist air is redried after leaving the material container and is reheated before being recirculated to the material container. The vol. of air supplied to the container is controlled in relation to the throughput of particulate material. Energy usage is therefore reduced and thermal shock to the material diminished. Process equipment has a sensor for determn. of material throughput which sends a signal to a controller which operates a throttle in the air supply pipe to the material container. USE/ADVANTAGE - For drying loose particulate materials, partic. heat sensitive materials. The process reacts quickly to changing parameters and therefore the material is carefully treated.
