PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of crack on the surface of polished rice in water when the polished rice is washed with water, by washing the polished rice with hot water for a short time, draining the washed rice and subsequently drying the drained rice. CONSTITUTION:One part of the surface bran layer of rice grains fed into a grinding type rice mill 101 is scraped with a grinder 104 and subsequently fed into an abrasion type rice mill 102 through a bucket elevator 111, and the removed bran layer is carried into a cyclone collector with bran-removing fans 106 and 110. The bran layer-removed polished rice is fed into a cylinder filled with hot water heated to a temperature of >=70 deg.C through a rotary valve 209 as rapidly as possible to wash the rice with a screw conveyor 204 and a stirrer 206 for a short time and simultaneously convert the surface layer of the rice into alpha shape. The treated rice is filtered with a filter 214, cooled with a cooling water-washing means 300 to harden the surface layer, immediately drained, carried into a drying means 400, dried in a rotated porous draining cylinder 421 while being blown with a high pressure wind from a blower 423 and subsequently fed into a measuring and packaging means 500 with a bucket elevator 501. |
