PURPOSE: To sterilize a packing material or a package for sterilized liquid foods by reducing a pressure of ambient environmental air adjacent to surface of a goods intended to be sterilized, and bringing the goods in contact with a gaseous sterilizer under reduced ambience. CONSTITUTION: By means of a conveyer belt 5, a package 6 is conveyed by passing through an inlet hole 3 to a designated position in an outside chamber 2'. Then, a sterilizing hood arranged on the right upper of the package 6 comes down, the package 6 is sealed within a sterilizing chamber 7' formed by the top portion 8 of the hood, the wall 9 of the hood and the conveyer belt 5. A discharging tube 11 located at the center of the package 6 is put in communicating state to an external vacuum source 16 through a connecting portion 12, and air is discharged. A communication to the vacuum source 16 discontinued under a predetermined decompression, the discharging tube 11 is switched to communicate to a sterilizing gas source 17 through a connecting portion 13, the package 6 is filled by a gaseous sterilizer. After finishing sterilization, the hood is lifted and the conveyer belt 5 is driven, and a sterilized foods is filled up into a sterilized package 6, and sealed. |
