PURPOSE:To detect a toner density as a transfer material holding body comes into contact with an image carrier by forming a toner image for detecting a density in a position where the image carrier corresponds to the non-transfer area of the transfer material holding body when a transfer is performed. CONSTITUTION:The transfer material holding body 27 is composed in such a way that a pair of cylindrical sleeves 1031 and 1032 are connected by a plate- shaped connecting member 1033 and a transfer sheet 27a is stuck between the sleeves 1031 and 1032. Then, the connecting member 1033 has notches 1037 formed along its longitudinal direction. The connecting member 1033 and the notches 1037 are the non-transfer area where the toner image is not transferred. Further, the toner image for detecting the density is formed in the position corresponding to the non-transfer area when the transfer is performed, on the image carrier 19, and the density of the toner image formed in the position is detected by a density detecting means 600. Thus, the toner density of a toner image is detected as the transfer material holding body 27 comes into contact with the image carrier 19. |
