PURPOSE:To obtain vaterite type calcium carbonate having satisfactory absorbability in a living body and stability over a long period of time by incorporating one or more kinds of natural polymers. CONSTITUTION:This vaterite type calcium carbonate contains one or more kinds of natural polymers such as gelatin, casein, agar, dextran, dextrin and lecithin and is preferably produced by dissolving the natural polymers in milk of lime (aq. suspension of calcium hydroxide) and carrying out a carbonation reaction with gaseous CO2. This vaterite type calcium carbonate has sufficient additional effect against calcium deficiency because it has superior stability and higher absorbability in a living body than conventional calcite type calcium carbonate. |
