PURPOSE:To find out an idle channel without incurring mis-decision within a short time by using a communication channel representing to be an idle channel depending on a list showing the operating state of a communication channel generated based on a control signal sent to a control channel, and making communication. CONSTITUTION:A control signal sent to a control channel with another equipment making a call is read by a control signal read section 14, a data representing a communication channel is supplied to a list control section 151, a group code is to a code control section 16 and a data representing the communication channel and a data representing the communication mode are fed to a channel control section 12. When the group code fed from the control signal read section 14 is coincident with the group code entered by an operation section 17, the code control section 16 sends the code to the channel control section 12 and a value instructing the frequency of the communication channel is sent to an idle channel output 12a to set a reception section 115, and a transmission section 113 to a communication channel sent from the control signal read section 14, a value instructing the frequency of the communication channel is sent to an idle channel output 12a.
