The convertible sofa bed has a backrest element (3) which is fixed on the seat element (1) to swivel about a horizontal axis (15). To change the sofa bed from the first chair position to the second bed position the back rest element swivels about the horizontal axis (15) relative to the seat element (1) standing fixed on the ground towards the back of the sofa. Bearing members (16) are provided for holding the backrest element in swivel manner on the seat element (1). A guide member such as a guide roller (19) can interact with a guide curve (20) on the seat element for easy transition. USE/ADVANTAGE - Easier and comfortable converion between the two useful positions.
