The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0981478/C2/1> and their acid addition salts wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical of 1-3 carbon atoms, A is a straight or branched alkylene radical, X is a benzhydryl or a 1-phenylcyclohexyl radical and R2 and R3, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen atoms or aryl or alkyl radicals or, together with the C2 atom of the dioxan ring, may also be joined to form a cyclo alkyl ring and the preparation thereof by reacting either a compound of the formula <FORM:0981478/C2/2> with a halide X-A-Hal where Hal is a halogen atom, or a compound of the formula <FORM:0981478/C2/3> with an amine R1-NH-A-X, or by reacting an amine of the formula <FORM:0981478/C2/4> with an aldehyde X-B-CHO or a ketone X-B1-COCH3 (in which B and B1 are alkylene chains having respectively one and two carbon atoms less than A) in the presence of a reducing agent, or by reducing an amide of the formula <FORM:0981478/C2/5> D,L - threo - 2,2 - Dimethyl - 4 - phenyl - 5-[b - (1 - phenyl - cyclohexyl) - propionylamino]-1,3-dioxan is prepared from b (1-phenyl-cyclohexyl)-propionic acid chloride and D,L-threo-2,2 - dimethyl - 4 - phenyl - 5 - aminodioxan. Similarly are prepared 2,2-tetramethylene-4-phenyl - 5 - (b ,b - diphenylpropionylamino) - 1,3-dioxan, 2,2 - dimethyl - 4 - phenyl - 5 - (diphenylacetylamino) - 1,3 - dioxan, and 2,2 - hexamethylene - 4 - phenyl - 5 - (b ,b - diphenylpropionylamino) - 1,3 - dioxan.
