A profiled jointing section which allows movements of adjacent materials has two identical L-section metal locking sides and an elastic section held by tongue and groove; this latter section has a top flush with that of the vertical arms of the L-sections. The horizontal part of the locking pieces has a number of impressions in its surface. The height/width ratio of the vertical metal arms to the horizontal parts is at least 1:2; the top core of the profiled jointing section is approx. square in cross-section and it has a smooth top surface and an enclosed bore; the longitudinal edges of the underside of the centre core have two ribs; these are parallel and fit tightly into matching grooves along the inside of the vertical sides; underneath the profiled section there is an adjustable height section which engages the locking section. The centre elastic section is preferably an elastic abrasion-resistant and weather-proof PVC/nitrile rubber; the adjustable height member is preferably an aluminium, brass or unplasticised PVC section. ADVANTAGE - The joints produced between (e.g.) large flooring areas are narrow enough to withstand point loads (e.g. from stacker trucks etc.) without cracking or other damage to the floor covering. They also compensate for the tolerances in the dimensions of concrete floors etc.
